Summary of our Virtual AGM
Our Annual General Meeting occurred virtually this year and we were thrilled to have our staff, volunteers, donors, and funders join us in the virtual world! It was exciting to catch up with our many supporters. Although business was brief, we were able to vote on some essential elements carrying us into next year and recognize our amazing funders for their commitment to our organization's growth: Government of Canada, Government of Alberta, City of Edmonton, United Way of the Alberta Capital Region, ATB Financial, Masonic Foundation of Alberta, and City of Spruce Grove. We also gave thanks to our many individual and corporate donors and our dedicated and driven volunteers for their contributions this past year. The work we do truly could not be done without the help of others!
The past year held many accomplishments for The Today Centre. These can be found in greater detail in our Annual Report. In 2019-2020, 456 victims of family violence and their 570 children reached out for help. Another 814 friends, family, neighbours and service providers sought help on behalf of someone they knew was experiencing family violence. During our AGM, our video, Dispelling the Myths Around Family Violence, was viewed and we heard from two staff members who shared Julie’s story. Julie showed incredible resiliency throughout her journey as she navigated services during the global pandemic of COVID-19.
Thank you to all who joined us for our virtual AGM. We look forward to hosting more events in the future.
